Chadron State College is a four-year public college in Chadron, which is the county seat of Dawes County, situated in the US state of Nebraska, having a population of more than 5000 inhabitants, estimated during the 2000 census. Chadron State was officially established in 1911, but its history starts way back, in the 1800's. The College was founded by the Nebraska Legislature, having the original mission to provide a higher education institution in northwest Nebraska.
Currently, the college offers more than 50 majors leading to bachelor's degrees and professional studies options, and it has an enrollment of approximately 3000 students. The academic areas are divided into the School of Business, the School of Arts and Sciences, Economics, Applied and Mathematical Sciences, and the School of Education, Human Performance, Counseling, Psychology and Social Work.
Chadron State's athletic teams are known as the Eagles, who compete in NCAA Division II, in various sports. Their distinctive colors are cardinal and white.
